By Plane to Lombok or Bali

By Fast Boat from Bali & Lombok to the Gili Islands

The easiest way to get to the Gili Islands is via fast boat from either Lombok or Bali. There are many boat companies offering different packages and routes. Online prices range from USD $53 to $75 for a one way ticket and USD $98 to $148 for a return ticket.

If you are coming from Bali, there are four Fast Boat ports of disembarkation to choose from, though Padang Bai is the main hub.

Padang Bai, Sanur, Serangan and Amed.

If you are coming from Lombok, the are three Fast Boat ports to choose from, though Senggigi seems to be the main stop for all fast boats from Bali on the way to the Gilis

Please note that most fast boats go to Gili T and Gili Air, only stopping at Gili Meno if there are many travellers headed there. Should you want to make your way to Gili Meno, there are several public and private boat operators available on Gili T and Gili Air at the harbour or at any tourist kiosk.
By Ferry from Bali to Lombok
If you are on a tight budget, there is a public ferry that departs from Padang Bai, Bali and arrives at the port of Lembar, 22km south of Mataram, Lombok. The ferry takes 4-5 hours and leaves every 90 minutes or so, 24 hours a day. Once you are in Lembar take local transport via Mataram to Bangsal, where the local boats leave to the Gilis.
Lots of Kuta travel agents will be able to help you with booking transport from your hotel in Bali to Padang Bai, the ferry ticket and transportation from Lembar to the Gilis. From Lembar you have to take local transport to Bangsal from where you can take a public or chartered boat to your island.
By Local Boat from Bangsal, Lombok to the Gili Islands
Bangsal, in the north-east of Lombok, is the closest harbor to the Gilis. Boats to Gili T and Meno leave from the beach on the left of the pier and boats to Gili Air leave from the beach on the right side of the pier. Since there are only a few public boats a day you might end up chartering your own boat which will requires bargaining skills in order to get a good deal.
Recommended ways to get to each Gili island

Gili Trawangan

The fastest way to get to Gili Trawangan, is via fast boat from Senggigi, Teluk Kode or Teluk Nara Lombok.

There are also direct fast boats from Nusa Penida, Sanur, Padangbai and Amed, stopping first at Gili Trawangan and then subsequently on Gili Air. The journey is approximately 1 1/2 hour, depending on sea conditions. Some fast boats coming from Bali stop at Senggigi, Teluk Kode or Teluk Nara first before continuing on to the Gilis.

If you are on a tight budget you can take the public boat from Bangsal across to Gili T for 15.000 IDR or charter a local boat, which leaves immediately even if you are the only passenger, prices are flexible depending on your bargaining skills. The boats to Gili Trawangan leave from the beach on the left side of the pier. The official ticket office for the public boat is on the left side after entering the pier area, see map below.

Island Hopping: The island hopper leaves twice a day 9:30 AM and 4 PM to Gili Meno 25.000 IDR and Gili Air 30.000 IDR

Gili Air

In regards to getting to Gili Air specifically, you can take a fast boat, only 20 mins from Senggigi, Lombok. There is no direct boat from Bali, as the fast boats make stops at both Senggigi and/or Gili Trawangan first before reaching Gili Air.

If you are on a tight budget you can take the public boat from Bangsal across to Gili Air for 10.000 IDR or charter a local boat, which leaves immediately even if you are the only passenger, prices are flexible depending on your bargaining skills. The boats to Gili Air leave from the beach on the right side of the pier. The official ticket office for the public boat is on the right side after entering the pier area, see map below.

Island Hopping: The island hopper leaves twice a day 8:30 AM and 3 PM to Gili Meno 25.000 IDR and Gili Trawangan 30.000 IDR

Gili Meno

Due to the smaller number of travelers visiting Gili Meno, there is no direct boat from Bali. The fast boats stop at Gili T first before continuing on to Gili Meno.

There is also the option of chartering a local boat or speed boat from Gili T, Gili Air and Senggigi, Teluk Kode or Teluk Nara. Prices are flexible depending on your bargaining skills.

If you are on a tight budget  you can take the public boat from Bangsal across to Gili Meno for 8.000 IDR or charter a local boat, which leaves immediately even if you are the only passenger, prices are flexible depending on your bargaining skills. The boats to Gili Meno leave from the beach on the left side of the pier. The official ticket office for the public boat is on the left side after entering the pier area, see map below.

Island Hopping: The island hopper leaves twice a day 8:50 AM and 3:20 PM to Gili Trawangan 25.000 IDR and to Gili Air at 9:50 AM and 4:20 PM for 25.000 IDR
