The Gili islands are known for their white sandy beaches and turquoise-blue waters. They’re a place where you can finally get your scuba diving certification, bicycle around the island, and spend your days relaxing. But sometimes you crave a simple pool day. A day where you don’t have to worry about sandy feet, salty skin or fish in the sea. Relax on a sun lounger next to the pool and sip your cold coconut.

Gili Trawangan and Gili Air have quite a few resorts and hotels with stunning pools. But unfortunately, not all pools are accessible for outside guests.

We have created a list with Gilis best public pools that welcome outside guests. Feel free to visit these public pools for a lovely afternoon. Worth mentioning is that most resorts require you to order something off their menu, but no minimum spending required (as most places in Bali do). Discover Gilis’ best public pools!

Gili Trawangan

Coco Cabana

Hidden in the middle of Gili Trawangan, you can find Coco Cabana tropical oasis. About 1 km from sunset point, Coco Cabana offers an outdoor swimming pool in a beautiful garden. A resort hotel with modern rooms with a local touch overlooking the pool bar. The pool and bar area is the perfect place to hang out on a long, hot, lazy day. Drift on a pool inflatable and order an ice-cold Bintang or a Strawberry Daiquiri off the pool bar. No need to move 😉

You can order all sorts of delicious meals of their newly designed menu until 4pm. Guests speak very fondly of their tasty juicy burgers. A win-win is that Coco Cabana strives to be a Gili Green business and uses bamboo and metal straws when serving drinks.

Location-wise, the hotel is positioned away from the hustle and bustle of the main strip, but close to some of Gili Trawangan’s beautiful sunset beaches. If you want to explore more of the island, you can rent a bicycle from reception.

Check out Coco Cabana’s Instagram to see the pool views.

Le Pirate

A lovely unique sunset side venue is Le Pirate. They have a beachfront infinity pool overlooking Bali and Mount Agung. Beautiful sunset pictures guaranteed. The pool is the perfect temperature to spend a hot day cooling down.

With the bar located right next to the pool, you can order some tapas, pizzas or delicious cocktails. Make sure to be there for Happy Hour as 2-for-1 deals apply! Le Pirate is all about creating a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy the epic sunsets Gili T has. Most people will make their way down to Le Pirate to see the jaw-dropping sunsets. Whilst the temperatures lower, guests and island locals team up for a friendly game of volleyball.

Feeling like spending your evening at Le Pirate? On Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays they organise movie nights.

Beach House

Located on the main strip you have a newly opened venue called the Beach House. And its name does its justice as it’s located right at the main strip beach. This newly opened resort has a modern Mediterranean look with white and blue elements.

The Beach House faces the sparkling turquoise water of the Lombok strait and overlooking Mount Rinjani in the distance. The Beach House offers a range of different accommodation styles and other facilities. The pool bar is open from 7am until 10:30pm.

You can comfortably spend your whole day here, with happy hour deals from 12pm on. Beach House serves light plates, tapas and sandwiches during the day. They also offer a beach barbeque with a refreshing top-up salad bar daily from 6pm. Local and other international dishes are on offer a la carte.

Gili Air

Let’s move over to the neighbouring island Gili Air!

Gili Lumbung Bungalows and Bar

On the southwest side of Gili Air we have Gili Lumbung Bungalows and Bar. This place is loved by many on the island. During sunset, you will have a beach full of people listening to live music and watching the sun sink behind the other Gili islands.

But Lumbung is not just a sunset beach bar. Behind their restaurant, Lumbung has a lovely refreshing pool waiting for you to dive in. The pool is a bit hidden from the main road, so privacy is guaranteed. They also have a large beach with beanbags where you can tan, chill and enjoy the beachy laid back vibes of Gili Air.

Lumbung serves delicious food, and the curry is a must-try! The curry is a secret recipe from the owner’s mum. During sunset, Lumbung has one of the best happy hour deals on the island so make sure to stick around to try them.

Check out Lumbung’s Instagram for all the beachy vibes.

Begadang Backpackers

Begadang means “to stay up all night talking” in Bahasa Indonesian. Begadang is a popular hostel on the sunset (west) side of Gili Air. They have well-priced accommodation and a bar and restaurant on site.

They care deeply about using natural building materials. All their buildings are made from wood, bamboo and stone – which gives Begadang a unique feel. The best part is that you can jump into the world’s first, huge, funky mushroom-shaped SWIMMING POOL!

Feeling like socialising? Begadang has that laidback backpackers vibe with plenty of comfortable socialising areas with bean bags and cushions. What’s amazing about Begadang Backpackers is that it’s a constant turnover of fellow travellers from all over the world. Time to make some friends over a few cold beers or some food.

Check out Begadang’s Instagram for all the mushroom pool photos.

Grand Sunset

Located only 5 metres from the pristine white sandy shores of Gili Air’s west beach. Here you can find the beautiful 3-star Grand Sunset resort. They offer a cosy and comfortable beachfront accommodation with a lovely large outdoor pool and free WiFi access.

From the pool, you have stunning views of the beach. This hotel is on the quieter side of Gili Air and it’s nice to be away from the busy harbour. It’s the perfect place to spend your day reading and relaxing by the pool. In the meantime, feed yourself with delicious foods and drinks that the Grand Sunset offers for a reasonable price. Some days of the week they have live entertainment like fire shows or a live band.

Check out Grand Sunset’s Instagram for all the beach views.
