12th of June: Due to high waves in the Lombok Strait there are no fast boats running between Bali and the Gili Islands this afternoon and tomorrow, Thursday the 13th of June 2019.

The Lombok Strait is the strait connecting the Java Sea to the Indian Ocean and is located between the islands of Bali and Lombok. The Gili Islands are on the Lombok side. The good news is that you can still reach our beautiful islands.

Alternative Ways How To Get To The Gili Islands

Your first option is to fly from Denpasar to Lombok. The flight takes only 30 minutes and is usually very cheap. Check out Skyscanner to find the best deals.
A private driver from the airport to Bangsal or Teluk Nara, north Lombok, is around IDR 350,000 and the ride takes about 1 1/2 hours.

  • Bangsal, from here you can take a public wooden boat (leaves whenever there are 40 passengers, IDR 15,000 to 20,000 per person depending on the island you go to) or a public speed boat (leaves every hour between 10 AM and 5 PM, IDR 85,000 per person) to Gili Air, Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan.
  • Teluk Nara, from here you can take a private speed boat to Gili Air, Gili Meno or Gili Trawangan for around IDR 350,000.

Your second option is to take the big public cargo & passenger ferry from Padang Bai (Bali) to Lembar Harbor ( south Lombok). The ferry takes around 6 hours and a ticket is around 50.000 IDR. The ferry leaves every hour and runs 24/7. Once you are in Lembar take local transport via Mataram to Bangsal or a private driver. Many travel agents in Bali will be able to help you with booking transport from your hotel in Bali to Padang Bai, the ferry ticket and transportation from Lembar to the Gilis.
